Libby Seed and Saddles for High Withered Event Horses

Gold Medalist Pony Eventing Team Member, Junior & British Team Member

” Hi, I’m Libby Seed and last year I was a part of the Great Britain Pony Eventing gold medal winning team on my pony Mr Vick at the European Championships, and we also finished 7th individually.

I have been riding since I was born, having first sat on a pony at 6 months old. I was brought up hunting and have been a member of the Avon Vale Pony Club since I was 5.

I hunted for all my years as a child and I also represented the Pony Club at three disciplines coming fourth in the 2012 Open Pony Club Eventing Championships.

I have now moved on to horses and I have two horses Glenard Lightning and What a Catch II, who are both aimed at the junior trials for the British team this year. What a Catch has been very difficult to fit a saddle to as he has a very high wither which comes back a long way. My comfort saddles have made such a difference as in the 2 months which I have been riding in them they have allowed him to develop muscles which are helping both in his flat work and jumping. My previous saddles couldn’t support his shape, and so couldn’t allow these muscles to develop.

I am very excited to be riding in my new saddles this season, and seeing the improvements in both my horses through training in them.

Clare Warman(who is our equine physiotherapist) has noticed a distinct improvement in the muscle development and sensitivity in What a Catch since he has been fitted for and ridden in his new Comfort Saddle.  I hope that this will make just that extra bit of difference to his performance.”
